Provence is a short singleplayer mod for Half-Life 2 where the player explores a section of the lab (known as Sector B) as Gordon Freeman. It's purpose is more of a portfolio mod (since I didn't have anything playable at the time) but I decided to release it publicly for some people to find it cool.

Downloaded latest version 1.1 from modbd. Sounded like a good mod, but will not initialize bombs with a steam engine error 'SetupArrayProps_R array prop '(null)' is at index zero'

Change of reccommendation.
I had aleady played version 1 (Aug 22nd 2009) and commented based on that experience.
I only found out about Version 1.1 because it had been bumped up recently at another site. Version 1.1 is on PP.
Great mapping, good Gun & Run combat, no tactics needed (a pity for this player!). You absolutely must keep firing at that Strider with the mounted gun and then your own weaponry or die.
No frame rate issues, no crashes and now you know when it ends.

During the scene where you need to sneak around the soldiers and the part in the tunnel with the strider, the game always crashes. I got a gtx 275 with 4gb of ram in my system so I know its not the hardware.

Has anyone else had this problem?

That happens for me when I just look at them really close up. They are way to shiny and the effect of shooting concrete at close range will crash also.

Idk. It just happens sometimes for people. I can look into it if you want. Because if the model texture is using env_cubemap and there are env_cubemap in that aree along with custom textures for walls there could be some kind of error in all that. And as for bullet it happens almost every time on the first map if you are shooting the turret at the door as it closes. I am just saying things that sometimes crash and things that may be causing them.

I guess I'm almost at the end, then, but wow this was a terrific little mod! Parts slow way down, I don't know if that's on purpose or if its the performance hit lol. Extremely nice mapping, though I'm not at all sure how the combine dudes were coming up behind me in an empty room (where the train stops)... ?

Great job though! Well-placed music, easy to use readme.

What is UP with the people trying to download and use this without Steam and the Episodes though?! :P

Incredible mod! Even though you listed it as a portfolio mod, are you maybe going to make a sequel and continue the story? The decaying Black Mesa setting, along with the new soldier models and the challenging difficulty (played on hard) was really impressive!

If a sequel is out of the question, at least consider doing some optimization (if you haven't already) since it's a rather resource consuming mod - my machine crashed once when I got behind those 2 soldiers examining a dead headcrab and shot one in the head - I had to reset it since it froze completely. Don't mean to be patronizing or anything, just hoping that it could be made more stable and less of a resource hog as that is bound to turn some people off and make them quit the mod before even witnessing its' awesomeness. =)

Hey, I want to work with you on making this mod longer better and well great. I love this mod so much! Replacing the rebel sounds with the soldiers could help. The silenced pistol is kool, but an updated glock would be nice. I can help make maps. I am great with ideas, and optimizing maps for demonic effects and detail. Editing the storyline would make it better because playing as Gordon freeman again is well it could be changed for the better. And one thing I would love to help put in would be teleporting vorts in. I have a question to the place on that the train is driving in a red tunnel (The tunnel is after the Strider and the "train-elevator"!)
After this scene follow a room with two bodies left and right from me. And than came a black screen! Is that black screen a mistake or what have i to do there???

Downloaded this from moddb.com. No readme, but after usual installation (extract to steamapps) did not appear into the steam game list.
Checked the gameinfo-file, and it seems to need Episode 2 to work, but could not verify this anywhere. Is it so? Does Provenance require Episode 2?

The godrays are vol_light models. For the Left 4 Dead version I desaturated the texture then changed the prop_static color FX.

Occlusion:

Your Bank map is spectacular, especially for such a short timespan. How did you get the lightrays?
